Nolen & Swinburne
The firm of Nolen & Swinburne was associated from at least 1949-1974 and served as the visioneers for the Temple campus in the postwar period. James Nolen was a graduate of the architecture program at Notre Dame and his father was a developer in North Philadelphia and a member of the Temple Board of Trustees. With this one firm you can trace the post war ideas about what an urban campus should look like. Their designs phased planning were noted and held as models for urban campus design in publications such as Architectural Record.
